I can’t believe I hadn’t taken the time to try out qgit yet. Check this out:

Install qgit from source on Leopard with these instructions.

Warning: installing the Qt 4.3 prerequisite takes an eternity or two (instructions for that are included as well).

Also note that you should make sure to use the newest versions of the downloads: the instructions point to an old 2.0rc1 release of qgit.

You should also check out gitx. It’s a gitk clone for OS X, and it’s pretty awesome!

  2. Thanks for the heads up, James. I’ll check it out.

omfg, i’ll have to check out gitx (when I get my new Mac!). Can’t stand the ugliness of Gitk. qgit looks pretty decent though.

  4. For some reason, gitx didn’t work for me. I haven’t pushed the investigation further though. I mostly use the command line anyway. But both gitx and qgit have the file browser, which is nice :-)

Didn’t try gitx but Gitnub isn’t bad either (also a Cocoa app)

  6. Yeah, I’ll have to give Gitnub another try. I tried it very early on and for some reason it didn’t compile at that time.
